No twists, no holes, no rust, no waste. Salvaged—never used. 100% honest. Wood is dry upon delivery to you.
The redwood beauties that we’ve salvaged were felled from the mid- to late-1800s. These giant logs became sunk in the mud of Big River, Mendocino County, California, while waiting to be floated downstream for milling. On the river bottom for over 135 years, they absorbed minerals that developed unique, beautiful coloring. The colorings range from deep rich purples, through rich red and rosewood tints; also blond, burgundy, and cinnamon brown.
We have beautiful Burl Redwood, Curly Redwood, and Cats Paw Redwood. ClearAll Heart Redwood, no boxed hearts, all quarter-sawn, fully air-dried, full dimension timbers in vertical, flat, or mixed grains—ready to ship to your site!
Our paneling and wainscoting is 2″ to 24″ wide, book-matched, Clear, All Heart Redwood, vertical grain. Our company provides both color-matched (identical color) and mixed colors. We have window stock, window trim, fascia, mantle pieces, doors and door stock, stair, rail, and newel stock, flooring, siding replacement, and pretty much anything else needed for these old-growth redwood masterpieces.

Our Greatest Appeal
The appeal of our redwood is that it is FIRST GROWTH, a different animal than 2nd to 5th growth redwood. This is because of subsequent growth: Once the old growth is cut, redwood grows from the original roots, and therefore many, many times faster, resulting in lots of small “sucker” trees—a very pulpy wood, with wide growth rings due to the rapid growth, since the roots are already established—not the dense, old growth with tight growth rings which Redwood Salvage Sales has in abundance!
So OUR old growth, TIGHT GRAIN REDWOOD appeals to the fine woodworker, who in my father’s words, wants to build something really beautiful, “guiltlessly.”
We interface with owners, contractors, architects, builders, and/or design or building professionals who seek information and honest answers and are authorized to make or help make decisions. We work with your builder or craftsmen to achieve your masterpiece. We know Old Growth Redwood and what it can do.
Our orders are shipped to you with no waste at all, every stick usable for its intended purpose. We hand-select every piece of wood we sell, and absolutely guarantee its quality.

How Good and Green Redwood Really Is
Redwood repels termites, and its ability to resist rot enables it to last for generations—the superb green architect resources for your green dream home! One of the most dimensionally stable of western softwoods, redwood is not prone to checking or splitting and it is less damaged by weathering.
Redwood is decay-resistant in all heartwood grades, so heartwood can be used near the ground. Redwood is more insect repellent in All Heart Wood grades than any other softwood, yet it is lightweight.
Although one of the lightest of softwoods, redwood provides adequate strength for many uses, as well as superior insulation values. Redwood’s minute cell structure, with thousands of air-filled cavities, enables redwood’s thermal insulation r values. Redwood is easily machined, easy to saw, nail, and glue, and has superior finish-holding ability. Redwood is known for its easy maintenance and beautiful color.
Guiltless Eco-Salvaged Old Growth Redwood
Our redwood is ecologically sound; having been cut by original loggers of the mid-1800s and lain at the bottom of Big River for over 135 years, this lost treasure was salvaged by hand-wench and lift of the tides, raising the water-logged giants from the river bottom 35 feet below. Our redwood is not from second-growth harvesting.
