Guiltless Eco-Salvaged Old Growth Redwood ♻️
The redwood we have available to you was originally cut in the mid-1800’s by wood loggers. The wood stayed at the bottom of Big River for over 135 years! This ecological water-logged treasure was salvaged by hand-wench and the ebb and flow of the tides. These wood giants came 35 feet up from the bottom of the river. This redwood is not from second-growth harvesting.
Our redwood’s appeal is First Growth, a different animal from 2nd-5th-growth redwood. Once the original Redwood is cut, the new wood grows from its original roots much faster, resulting in many small “sucker” trees, not as strong. As the roots are already established, this new rapid growth produces wood that is pulpy (not dense) and with wide growth rings. This is not dense old growth with tight growth rings. Our Old Growth, tight-grain Redwood appeals to first-rate woodworkers, who, in my father’s words, want to build something really beautiful “guiltlessly.”
All Growth Redwood provides adequate strength for multiple uses and has superior insulation values. The redwood’s thermal insulation value comes from its minute cell structure, with thousands of air-filled cavities. Redwood is easily machined, sawn, nailed, and glued, and it has a superior finish-holding ability. Furthermore, Redwood is known for its easy maintenance and beautiful color, perfect for your project!
